| The Town of Niskayuna
lies adjacent to the City of Schenectady and is often thought of as a "bedroom
community" of General Electric. Niskayuna is noted for its highly rated school
system, convenience to downtown Schenectady and the General Electric facilities,
its variety of housing, and general overall beauty.
Niskayuna is primarily a residential community. However, General Electric maintains two major facilities, Corporate Research and Development Center and the Knolls Atomic Power Lab (KAPL) both located in the town.
Niskayuna has many churches and synagogues representing most religious faiths and denominations. Many residents choose to worship in one of the many older churches located within the adjacent City of Schenectady.

Niskayuna is generally considered one of the more prestigious residential areas. The Daily Gazette and the Times Union are the major papers available in this area. The Niskayuna Journal is a well-read local paper, available weekly.
Commuter: This area's well developed interstate system makes most of the Capital District only minutes away.
ELIZABETH HARRIMAN BEAN LIBRARY There is a five mile bike path along the southern bank of the Mohawk River which people walk, jog, and bicycle along. Niskayuna offers a variety of country clubs, one of the area's two curling clubs, and its convenient to Central Park, which offers year-round activities and entertainment located in the heart of Schenectady. |
